Riding at the Ames Plantation Field Trails

My son and I participated in our first Ames Plantation Field Trails by riding in the gallery on February 17, 2012. The Field Trails are where sporting dogs from all over the country come to Grand Junction, TN to compete in what is their “super bowl.” The competition has been going on here for 96 years. The dogs are judged on how well they run and how many coveys of quail they find.

We started our day around 5:30am getting everything ready to go. The 1st brace (running of the dogs) started at 8:00 and ended around 11:00. The day started out around 35 degree and warmed up by the time we finished.  I was nice riding with friends and meeting new friends.  It was a great experience and I can not wait to participate in it next year.
